Joe Burrow Calls It 'Ridiculous' That a Tight Back Would Keep Him Out at Houston
Burrow took only mental reps in the open portion of Wednesday's practice after feeling soreness hours after the win over Tampa Bay, but says he will play unless he needs surgery.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said Wednesday that he is dealing with back tightness but expects to start Sunday at the Houston Texans. Asked whether it could keep him out, he answered: "That's ridiculous."
What happened to his back?
Burrow isn't sure. He took one sack and a hard hit on a scramble for a first down in the Week 1 win over Tampa Bay, and felt the soreness hours after the game. He made no significant throws during the open part of Wednesday's practice and took mental reps instead. "If I'm not having surgery, I'll be out there," he said, adding that on the scramble, "I was comfortable with it," though "you have to think about the situation of the game."

Burrow went 25 of 35 for 254 yards with a touchdown and an interception returned for a score in the opener. Coach Zac Taylor said the Bengals "certainly have our work cut out for us" against a Texans front led by Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr.
