Nick Sirianni Regrets Outburst After Sideline Hit on Jalen Hurts in Loss to Bears
Hurts was checked for a concussion and cleared after D'Marco Jackson's unnecessary-roughness penalty. Andy Dalton threw an interception in his place, one of three Eagles turnovers in a 27-7 loss to 38-year-old Case Keenum.
Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said he regrets shouting expletives at Bears linebacker D'Marco Jackson after a second-quarter hit on Jalen Hurts near the sideline in Monday night's 27-7 loss at Chicago. "I shouldn't have let my emotions get the best of me," Sirianni said. "I have to be more steady in that situation."
What happened on the play?
Hurts was scrambling right and stepping out of bounds near the first-down marker when Jackson hit him in the shoulder area. Jackson was flagged for unnecessary roughness. Hurts was taken out for a concussion evaluation, was cleared, and came back the next series to lead an eight-play touchdown drive. "I felt fine, we already checked it," he said. Andy Dalton threw an interception while Hurts was being checked.
How did the Eagles lose by 20?
Three turnovers, two of them Hurts interceptions, and 2 of 9 on third down. Chicago's third-string quarterback, Case Keenum, 38, went 24 of 34 for 247 yards with two touchdown passes and a rushing score in his first start in 1,009 days, and was 11 of 11 against the blitz. Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard made his Eagles debut after missing two games with a pectoral injury. Philadelphia is 2-1.
