Giants' Jaxson Dart Believed to Have Sprained MCL; MRI Tuesday
Dart was hurt on the first series of Monday night's 28-6 loss to the Rams. X-rays were negative, and John Harbaugh called avoiding a 'devastating outcome' the good news. Malik Nabers, Brian Burns and Andrew Thomas were also hurt.
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is believed to have sprained the MCL in his left knee on the opening series of Monday night's 28-6 loss at the Los Angeles Rams, sources told ESPN. X-rays were negative, and an MRI on Tuesday will set the timeline.
How did it happen?
On third-and-8, Rams linebacker Byron Young hit Dart from the right and drove him into Josaiah Stewart. Dart landed hard and grabbed the knee immediately. "We'll know more Tuesday. That's in the neighborhood of it," Harbaugh said of the sprain. "The fact that it's not that outcome that you're talking about, the devastating outcome, is really good news." He is expected to miss time but the injury is not considered season-ending.
What happened without him?
Jameis Winston went 11 of 27 for 111 yards with an interception, and the Giants managed 182 total yards. Receiver Malik Nabers had a shoulder pop out and back in and returned for one catch, edge rusher Brian Burns has a low ankle sprain, and left tackle Andrew Thomas hurt his groin. New York is 1-1 and hosts Tennessee on Sunday.
