Barryn Sorrell spent three years starting on the edge for Texas before Green Bay grabbed him with the 124th overall pick, betting that his combine testing and physical tools outweighed the inconsistency that pushed him down draft boards. Path to the league

Sorrell was a three-year starter at Texas who piled up 15.5 sacks and 24.5 tackles for loss across his final 43 games with the Longhorns. The Packers selected him in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft, making him the first Texas defensive player Green Bay had drafted since 1952.

Career highlights

At 6-foot-3 and 256 pounds, Sorrell tested well at the 2025 NFL Combine, running a 4.68-second 40-yard dash and posting a 121-inch broad jump and 7.06-second three-cone drill, numbers that graded above average for an edge rusher. He was widely viewed as a Day 2 talent who fell to Day 3 because of inconsistent tape at Texas.

2025 season recap

Sorrell played behind Micah Parsons and Rashan Gary for most of his rookie season, appearing in 14 games and recording 15 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in a reserve role. He broke out in Green Bay's wild-card playoff game against Minnesota, finishing with eight total tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hit and a fumble recovery.
