Bishard "Budda" Baker has been the heartbeat of the Arizona Cardinals' defense since they drafted him out of Washington in 2017. Known for his range, instincts and relentless tackling, he has become one of the NFL's premier safeties. He added another Pro Bowl nod and a career milestone in 2025.

Path to the league

Baker played college football at Washington, where he was a standout in the Huskies' secondary. The Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He made the Pro Bowl as a rookie special-teamer and quickly grew into a cornerstone of Arizona's defense.

Career highlights

Baker has earned eight Pro Bowl selections, six of them as a safety, and signed a contract extension with Arizona ahead of the 2025 season. He has built a reputation as one of the league's most productive and durable defensive backs.

2025 season

Baker finished the 2025 season with 120 total tackles, one interception, five passes defensed and a fumble recovery, and he recorded his 1,000th career tackle along the way. He earned his eighth Pro Bowl selection and was named the NFL's Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award recipient for the season.
