Charles Omenihu is a versatile Texas-bred defensive lineman who signed with the Washington Commanders in March 2026.
Charles Omenihu has built a career as a rangy, versatile defensive lineman capable of rushing from multiple alignments. After stops in Houston, San Francisco and Kansas City, he signed with Washington in the 2026 offseason. He brings playoff experience and pass-rush flexibility to the Commanders' front.
Path to the league
Omenihu played college football at Texas and was selected by the Houston Texans in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He later played for the 49ers and the Chiefs, winning a Super Bowl with Kansas City. His length and ability to slide inside on passing downs have made him a useful rotational rusher.
2025 season
Omenihu played all 17 regular-season games with the Chiefs in 2025, posting 28 total tackles and 3.5 sacks. On March 13, 2026, he signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Washington Commanders, joining a defensive line that added several veterans in the offseason.
