Dorance Armstrong

Defensive End · Kansas

Dorance Armstrong is a Kansas-bred edge rusher whose 2025 season with the Washington Commanders ended early due to a knee injury.

Dorance Armstrong came out of Kansas as a productive college pass rusher and developed into a steady NFL edge defender, first in Dallas and later in Washington. The Commanders leaned on him as a starter and pass-rush contributor in 2025. A season-ending knee injury cut short what had been a strong start to his campaign.

Path to the league

Armstrong played college football for the Kansas Jayhawks and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. After several seasons in Dallas, he signed with Washington as a free agent to add depth and experience to the Commanders' front.

2025 season

Armstrong appeared in seven games with five starts for the Commanders in 2025, recording a team-high 5.5 sacks and 24 combined tackles before going down. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed Armstrong suffered a knee injury that ended his season. His production through the first part of the year made his absence a notable loss for the Washington pass rush.
