A four-time FCS national champion at North Dakota State who converted from tight end to become Tampa Bay's starting right guard.
Cody Mauch arrived in the NFL as one of the more unusual prospects in the 2023 class, a former tight end who bulked up into a mauling offensive lineman at North Dakota State. He locked down the Buccaneers' starting right guard job as a rookie and held it through 2025, when a season-ending knee injury cut his year short.
Path to the league
Mauch transitioned from tight end to offensive tackle at North Dakota State, starting 39 consecutive games from 2019 to 2022 and helping the Bison win four FCS national championships. Tampa Bay traded up in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft to select him 48th overall, then moved him inside to guard as a pro.
Career highlights
Mauch started immediately as a rookie and became one of the more durable pieces of Tampa Bay's offensive line, starting all 36 games he appeared in over his first two-plus seasons at right guard. His college pedigree, four national titles in five years at North Dakota State, made him one of the most decorated linemen in his draft class.
2025 season recap
Mauch's 2025 season ended early. He suffered a knee injury during Tampa Bay's Week 2 win at Houston, played through the rest of that game, and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the season and required surgery.
