Daniel Scott arrived in Indianapolis with a college resume full of turnovers and leadership, but bad injury luck has cost him nearly every training camp and season since. When healthy, flashes like a preseason pick-six have shown why the Colts keep betting on him.
Path to the league
Scott played five seasons at California, appearing in 49 games with 28 starts and racking up 207 tackles, seven interceptions, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles and a sack. He was a team captain for the Golden Bears before the Colts drafted him in the fifth round (No. 158 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft via a trade with Minnesota.
Career highlights
Scott's rookie season ended before it started when he tore his ACL on the final play of OTAs in 2023, forcing him onto injured reserve and sidelining him for the entire campaign. He has spent the years since working to reestablish himself in the Colts' safety room.
2025 season recap
Scott had an encouraging 2025 preseason, including a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown against Cincinnati, but a knee injury again cut his season short.
