Darrell Baker Jr.'s career has been a steady climb built entirely without a draft selection. From a walk-on at Georgia Southern to a starting corner who led the Titans in tackles in 2025, he's earned every rep, and now brings that experience to Miami.
Path to the league
Baker walked on at Georgia Southern in 2016 and developed into a six-year contributor, finishing with 111 tackles, three interceptions and 18 pass breakups. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2022, was released in camp, then caught on with the Indianapolis Colts, where he made his NFL debut in 2022 and started building a defensive back career.
Career highlights
Baker appeared in 14 games with six starts for the Colts in 2023, finishing second on the team in pass breakups. After the Colts waived him in 2024, the Tennessee Titans claimed him off waivers, and he started nine of 17 games that season with 40 tackles and five pass deflections.
2025 season recap
Baker took over as a full-time starter for Tennessee in 2025, starting all 12 games he appeared in and posting a team-high 55 tackles along with seven pass deflections. He signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins in March 2026.
