JuJu Brents brings elite size and length to the cornerback position, the kind of frame teams covet when trying to match up with bigger receivers. After breaking out at Kansas State, injuries have slowed his path in the NFL, but the talent that made him a Day 2 pick has never been in question.

Path to the league

Brents began his college career at Iowa before transferring to Kansas State in 2021, where he started all 27 games he played. As a senior in 2022 he intercepted six passes, broke up 12 more and racked up 111 tackles, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors. The Indianapolis Colts drafted him in the second round, 44th overall, in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

At the NFL Combine, Brents measured 6-foot-3 with 34-inch arms and an 82 5/8-inch wingspan, ran a 4.53-second 40-yard dash and posted a 41.5-inch vertical, numbers that made him one of the rangiest cornerback prospects in his draft class. As a rookie with the Colts in 2023, he appeared in nine games with eight starts, recording 43 tackles, an interception and six passes defensed.

2025 season recap

A season-ending knee injury landed Brents on injured reserve in September 2024 with Indianapolis, and Miami claimed him off waivers on August 27, 2025. He appeared in seven games with two starts for the Dolphins, totaling 14 combined tackles, a pass deflection and a fumble recovery before a Week 11 foot injury against Washington required season-ending surgery.
