DeMario Douglas arrived in New England as a sixth-round pick out of Liberty with little fanfare and quickly became one of the more productive slot receivers of the post-Bill Belichick roster rebuild. Undersized at 5-foot-8, he has made his living on quickness and separation rather than size.
Path to the league
Douglas starred at Liberty before the Patriots selected him in the sixth round, 210th overall, of the 2023 NFL Draft. His combination of speed and route-running instincts made him a value pick well outside the top of the draft class.
Career highlights
As a rookie in 2023, Douglas posted the most receptions (49) and receiving yards (561) by a rookie wide receiver during Bill Belichick's tenure as Patriots head coach. He earned praise from Belichick himself for his quickness and ability to separate, and has since become a fixture in New England's passing game.
2025 season recap
Douglas caught 31 passes for 447 yards and 3 touchdowns on 46 targets during the 2025 regular season, including a career-high 100-yard, four-catch game in Week 9 against Atlanta.
