E.J. Jenkins

Tight End · Georgia Tech

A former wide receiver turned tight end who bounced through three practice squads before earning a real role in Philadelphia.

E.J. Jenkins's road to the NFL wound through Saint Francis, South Carolina and Georgia Tech, and then through practice squads in New York, Las Vegas and Philadelphia before he stuck. He finally got his chance on the Eagles' active roster in 2025 when injuries opened the door at tight end.

Path to the league

Jenkins went undrafted after the 2023 NFL Draft and signed with the New York Jets, having converted from wide receiver to tight end during his college career at Georgia Tech after also playing for Saint Francis and South Carolina. He split his rookie season between the Eagles' and Raiders' practice squads before eventually sticking with Philadelphia.

Career highlights

At 6-foot-6 and 245 pounds, Jenkins brings a wide receiver's ball skills and contested-catch ability to the tight end position, a rare combination that kept NFL teams interested despite his unconventional path. He signed a two-year contract with the Eagles worth roughly $2.17 million.

2025 season recap

The Eagles elevated Jenkins from the practice squad to the active roster in December 2025 after placing starting tight end Dallas Goedert on injured reserve with a knee injury. Jenkins stepped in as Philadelphia's No. 3 tight end behind Grant Calcaterra and C.J. Uzomah while Goedert worked toward a planned playoff return.
