Marshall Lang is a well-traveled tight end who has already bounced between four rosters since going undrafted in 2025.
Lang spent five seasons at Northwestern before entering the league as an undrafted free agent, and his path since then has been a tour of practice squads across the AFC and NFC. Now with the Vikings, the Cincinnati native is looking to finally lock down a steady roster spot.
Path to the league
A Cincinnati native out of St. Xavier High School, Lang played five seasons at Northwestern from 2020 to 2024, appearing in 51 games and building a reputation as a reliable in-line blocker. He went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft and signed with the Seattle Seahawks shortly afterward.
Career highlights
Over his Northwestern career Lang caught 48 passes for 491 yards and four touchdowns, with his best statistical season coming in 2022 when he hauled in 15 catches for 192 yards. He measured 6-foot-4 and 249 pounds at his pro day, giving him the frame teams look for at the position even without gaudy college receiving numbers.
2025 season recap
Lang's rookie year was a whirlwind: cut by Seattle in August, he bounced to New England's practice squad in October, back to Seattle's practice squad in November, and back to New England again by December. He signed a reserve/futures contract with the Patriots in February 2026 before being released that April and eventually landing with the Vikings in June.
