A former Ole Miss wide receiver turned cornerback, Miles Battle has bounced through three organizations chasing a permanent NFL roster spot.

Miles Battle is a cornerback who signed a reserve/future contract with the Miami Dolphins in February 2026 after stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots. His path has been unconventional: he started college as a wide receiver before converting to defensive back, and he has spent most of his pro career fighting for practice squad and roster spots rather than snaps.

Path to the league

Battle played five seasons at Ole Miss, where he began as a wide receiver before switching to cornerback midway through the 2020 season, then transferred to Utah for a final 2023 season in which he started two of 13 games and picked off a pass. He went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, only to be released in late August.

Career highlights

After Kansas City let him go, Battle caught on with the New England Patriots practice squad in October 2024 and was promoted to the active roster that January. Across his two seasons in New England he appeared in six games, recording five solo tackles and three passes defensed, showing enough coverage instincts to keep drawing interest from other teams.

2025 season recap

Battle spent the 2025 season cycling on and off New England's practice squad and active roster, seeing limited defensive snaps. Miami signed him to a futures contract in February 2026, giving him a fresh chance to compete for a cornerback role in training camp.
