Octavian Smith Jr. grew up in nearby Burtonsville, Maryland and starred at Paint Branch High School before spending four seasons at the University of Maryland. Path to the league
Smith was a four-star recruit and the top-ranked offensive player in Maryland coming out of Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville. He stayed home to play for the Terrapins from 2022 through 2025, developing into a downfield threat before signing with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft.
