Sam Cosmi

Sam Cosmi is a Washington Commanders offensive lineman who started his career at tackle before settling in at guard.

Cosmi came out of Texas as a second-round pick in 2021 and has been a fixture along Washington's offensive line. A torn ACL suffered in the January 2025 playoff loss to Detroit cost him a chunk of the 2025 season. He works mostly at right guard.

Path to the league

Cosmi played his college ball at Texas, where he started at both left and right tackle for the Longhorns. Washington drafted him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He moved inside to guard during his time in Washington and has held down a starting spot when healthy.

2025 season

Cosmi tore his ACL on Brian Robinson Jr.'s touchdown run in Washington's divisional-round playoff game against Detroit in January 2025, per The Washington Post. He opened the 2025 season on the active/physically unable to perform list and was activated on October 18 ahead of the Week 7 game against Dallas. On December 22, the Commanders placed him on season-ending injured reserve with a concussion, according to The Washington Times.
