Tanoa Togiai spent six years in the Utah program, switching from defensive line in high school to interior offensive line in college, and he now joins the Commanders as an undrafted free agent guard. He follows his cousin Tommy Togiai, a Houston Texans defensive lineman, into the NFL from the same Idaho-to-college-football pipeline.
Path to the league
A 2020 graduate of Rigby High School in Idaho, where he played defensive line for a state championship team, Togiai shifted to interior offensive line after arriving at Utah. He went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft and signed with Washington as a free agent, agreeing to a deal that included a $15,000 signing bonus and $125,000 in guaranteed base salary.
Career highlights
Togiai saw action in both 2022 and 2023 at Utah before taking over as the starting left guard in 2024 and holding that job through his redshirt senior season in 2025. At 6-foot-6 and 317 pounds, he posted strong size and explosion testing numbers, ranking with the seventh-best Relative Athletic Score among all offensive guards in his draft class.

In his final season at Utah, Togiai started at left guard and earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors while helping anchor an offensive line unit that landed on the midseason honor roll for the Joe Moore Award, given annually to the nation's top offensive line.
