An undrafted safety who won a Super Bowl in Philadelphia before landing a starting role in the Raiders' secondary.

Tristin McCollum took the long road to the NFL, grinding through practice squads with two teams before finally sticking on an active roster. The Sam Houston product has since collected a championship ring and now anchors the back end of the Raiders' defense.

Path to the league

McCollum was a four-year starter at Sam Houston State, finishing his career with 229 tackles, 20 passes defensed, three interceptions and a blocked kick across 57 games, and he helped the Bearkats win the 2021 FCS National Championship. He went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft and signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent.

Career highlights

After a season on Houston's practice squad, McCollum moved to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was elevated for three games in 2023 before earning a full-time roster spot in 2024. He played in 14 regular-season games and all four postseason contests that year as part of Philadelphia's Super Bowl LIX championship run, a 40-22 win over Kansas City.

2025 season recap

Waived by the Eagles in August 2025, McCollum was claimed off waivers by the Raiders days later. He appeared in all 16 games for Las Vegas, recording 14 tackles, two tackles for loss and a pass deflection while carving out a role in the secondary.
