Jeremy Chinn built his draft stock on rare positional versatility at Southern Illinois, then turned that into an immediate impact as a rookie in Carolina. Now with the Las Vegas Raiders, he continues to log heavy tackle totals as one of the league's most active run defenders.

Path to the league

Chinn played safety, nickel and cornerback at Southern Illinois, finishing his college career with 243 tackles, 13 interceptions, 31 passes defended and six forced fumbles. A consensus All-American in 2019, he became the first FCS player drafted in 2020 when the Carolina Panthers took him in the second round with the 64th overall pick.

Career highlights

Chinn led all NFL rookies with 116 tackles in 2020, then followed it up with 106 tackles in 2021, joining Jon Beason and Luke Kuechly as the only Panthers with at least 100 tackles in each of their first two seasons. He has also played for the Washington Commanders before signing with the Las Vegas Raiders.

2025 season recap

Chinn started 15 games for the Raiders in 2025, recording 114 tackles, a sack, three tackles for loss and two passes defended before finishing the season on injured reserve with a back injury. He played almost every defensive snap through the first 15 games and ranked among the league's top safeties in missed-tackle rate.
