A well-traveled offensive lineman who forged an unconventional path to the NFL through junior college, Tyre Phillips has logged starts at both tackle and guard for four different franchises.
Phillips has never had a settled NFL home, cycling through the Ravens, Giants, Eagles and now the Browns since being drafted in 2020. His versatility along the offensive line, and his ability to keep earning roster spots, has kept his career alive well past his rookie contract.
Path to the league
Phillips took a nontraditional route to Division I football, spending two seasons at East Mississippi Community College before landing at Mississippi State. The Baltimore Ravens drafted him in the third round with the 106th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, and he shifted from tackle to guard during his rookie training camp.
Career highlights
Phillips started as a rookie for Baltimore despite battling an ankle injury, but a torn ACL in 2021 slowed his development with the Ravens. After his release in 2022, he bounced through stints with the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad before returning to New York, where he started nine of ten games at right tackle in 2023 after replacing an injured Evan Neal. Through 2025, he has appeared in 47 career games with 28 starts.
2025 season recap
Phillips spent time on the Giants' roster before joining the Cleveland Browns' practice squad in September 2025. He signed a reserve/futures contract with Cleveland in January 2026, putting him in position to compete for a roster spot on the Browns' offensive line.
