A former Division II All-American at Ferris State, Zach Sieler has become one of the Dolphins' most disruptive interior pass rushers.
Zach Sieler's path from a seventh-round pick out of Ferris State to a Dolphins captain and team MVP is one of the league's better development stories at defensive tackle. After Baltimore let him go, Miami claimed him off waivers in 2019 and he has since grown into one of the most productive interior linemen in franchise history. His combination of length and interior pass-rush ability has made him a foundational piece of Miami's defensive front.
Path to the league
Sieler played college football at Division II Ferris State from 2013 to 2017, earning All-American honors in each of his final two seasons and being named GLIAC Defensive Lineman of the Year twice. Baltimore selected him in the seventh round (238th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft, but he appeared in only six games there before Miami claimed him off waivers in December 2019.
Career highlights
Sieler has become a fixture on Miami's defensive line, recording 357 career tackles and 35.5 sacks through 2025. He became the first Dolphins player to post consecutive 10-plus sack seasons since Cameron Wake in 2016-17, and in August 2025 he signed a three-year, $64 million contract extension. He was also named Miami's Dan Marino Team MVP.
2025 season recap
Sieler followed up a career year with another productive campaign, recording 47 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 2025. He continued to serve as a defensive captain for Miami and remains one of the Dolphins' most consistent interior disruptors.
