Carson Steele

Running Back · UCLA

A punishing UCLA rusher who flashed early as a Chiefs rookie before a crowded backfield pushed him to Philadelphia.

Carson Steele made his name as a bruising back at Ball State and UCLA, then signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and earned real touches right away. After a numbers crunch in Kansas City's backfield squeezed him out, he landed with the Eagles on a futures deal.

Path to the league

Steele signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft. He played college football at Ball State from 2021 to 2022 before transferring to UCLA for the 2023 season.

Career highlights

Across his three college seasons at Ball State and UCLA, Steele rushed for 3,294 yards and 26 touchdowns. As a rookie with the Chiefs in 2024, he carried the ball 56 times for 183 yards and added seven catches, including a 17-carry workload against the Falcons in Week 3 before his role shrank late in the year.

2025 season recap

Steele spent the 2025 season on Kansas City's practice squad and did not appear in a regular-season game, with the additions of Kareem Hunt and rookie Brashard Smith along with a healthy Isiah Pacheco squeezing him out of the backfield rotation. The Chiefs waived him during the year, and he signed a reserve/futures contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in January 2026.
