Cole Wisniewski built his college career at FCS powerhouse North Dakota State before a foot injury forced a detour to Texas Tech for a final season. The Eagles took the physical box safety in the seventh round of the 2026 draft, reuniting him with former Bison teammate and fellow draftee Cole Payton.
Path to the league
Wisniewski, out of Sparta High School in Wisconsin, spent 2020 through 2023 at North Dakota State, where he was part of the program's 2021 FCS national championship team. He missed the entire 2024 season after undergoing foot surgery, then transferred to Texas Tech for his final year of eligibility in 2025.
Career highlights
At North Dakota State, Wisniewski recorded 195 tackles, 15 pass deflections, and eight interceptions, earning first-team FCS All-American and first-team All-MVFC honors in 2023. He was a key piece of Bison teams that won a national title and consistently competed for FCS supremacy.
2025 season recap
After returning from foot surgery, Wisniewski played his lone season at Texas Tech in 2025, highlighted by a 10-tackle performance in a win over BYU.
