Marcus Epps is a veteran safety for the Philadelphia Eagles and a former Wyoming walk-on.

Epps returned to Philadelphia in 2025, working his way from the practice squad back into a starting role on one of the league's top defenses. A former walk-on at Wyoming, he previously started for the Eagles during their Super Bowl LVII run. His 2025 path back to a key role capped a stretch in which his NFL career had been in jeopardy.

Path to the league

Epps walked on at Wyoming and developed into a productive safety for the Cowboys. The Minnesota Vikings selected him in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He later joined Philadelphia, where he became a starter in 2022 and helped the team reach Super Bowl LVII.

Career highlights

Epps was a starting safety for the Eagles during their Super Bowl LVII appearance following the 2022 season. After stints elsewhere and a 2025 release by New England, he rejoined Philadelphia. He earned his way back into a starting role on a dominant Eagles defense during the 2025 season.

2025 season

Epps signed to the Eagles' practice squad in August 2025 and was promoted to the 53-man roster on September 24. He played the first eight games, largely on special teams, before being placed on injured reserve after Week 8. He returned later in the season and, after Drew Mukuba's injury, was named a starter by defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
