Eagles rookie safety out of Texas who started early before an ankle fracture ended his first NFL season.
Andrew Mukuba earned a starting safety role as a rookie in Philadelphia after a ball-hawking final college season at Texas. He opened his career with an interception return and 10 starts before a Week 12 ankle fracture landed him on injured reserve. The Eagles see a productive, instinctive defender to build around.
Path to the league
Mukuba began his college career at Clemson before transferring to Texas, where he earned third-team All-SEC honors and tied for fourth in the FBS with five interceptions. The Eagles drafted him 64th overall in 2025 and signed him to a four-year rookie deal worth about $7.16 million.
2025 season
Mukuba debuted in Week 1 against Dallas with four tackles and grabbed his first NFL interception in Week 2, returning it 41 yards. He played 11 games with 10 starts, posting 46 tackles, two interceptions, and three passes defensed before fracturing his ankle in a Week 12 matchup with Dallas. Philadelphia placed him on injured reserve on November 26.
