A former Notre Dame captain who turned a fourth-round slide into a Pro Bowl career and a Super Bowl ring in Seattle.
Julian Love has become one of the more versatile defensive backs in the league, equally comfortable at safety, corner, or in the slot. After four years learning the position in New York, he found his best football in Seattle, earning a Pro Bowl nod and a three-year extension before capping the 2025 season with a Super Bowl title.
Path to the league
Love was a three-year starter at Notre Dame from 2016 to 2018, setting the school record with 44 career pass breakups and finishing as a Jim Thorpe Award finalist. He declared early after his junior season and was picked by the New York Giants in the fourth round, 108th overall, in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Love spent four seasons with the Giants, moving between cornerback, safety and nickel duty before signing with Seattle as a free agent in 2023. He earned his first Pro Bowl selection after the 2023 season with a career-high four interceptions, then started all 17 games in 2024 and signed a three-year, $36 million extension with the Seahawks.
2025 season recap
A hamstring injury cost Love time during the 2025 regular season, but he returned for the playoffs and delivered the biggest moment of his career, intercepting a Drake Maye pass in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LX. Seattle beat New England 29-13, and Love became the first Notre Dame alum to record a Super Bowl interception since Nick Buoniconti in Super Bowl VII.
