Maxen Hook is a safety who built his reputation as one of the most durable, productive defensive backs in Toledo history before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2025. After a stint with the Philadelphia Eagles ended in final cuts, he landed with the Seattle Seahawks in October and rode the practice squad all the way to a championship ring.
Path to the league
A two-star recruit out of New Palestine High School in Indiana, Hook developed into a four-year starter at Toledo from 2020 to 2024. He went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft despite an invitation to the Senior Bowl, and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent before being waived in late August 2025.
Career highlights
Hook was a three-time first-team All-MAC selection (2022-2024) and served as a two-time team captain for the Rockets. He finished his college career with 352 tackles, seven interceptions and 15 passes defensed, numbers that made him one of the most decorated defensive backs in program history.
2025 season recap
After being cut by Philadelphia, Hook signed to the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad in October 2025 and spent the rest of the season developing behind the depth chart rather than seeing regular-season snaps. Seattle's Super Bowl LX win over New England made him a champion, and the team retained him on a reserve/futures contract in February 2026.
