Mason Reiger's football journey started as a walk-on at Louisville and nearly ended when a 2024 injury wiped out his season. A graduate transfer year at Wisconsin and a standout combine turned him back into an NFL prospect, and he joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2026.
Path to the league
Reiger came out of James B. Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, unranked as a recruit, and walked on at Louisville. He spent four seasons with the Cardinals, appearing in 33 games and totaling 49 tackles and eight sacks, before a season-ending injury cost him all of 2024.
Career highlights
Reiger transferred to Wisconsin for a final college season in 2025 and immediately became a starter, then capped his year with an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl, where he was named defensive MVP. At the NFL Combine, he posted a 9.53 Relative Athletic Score, placing him in the top 5 percent of defensive ends measured since 1987.
2025 season recap
In his lone season at Wisconsin, Reiger started 11 of 12 games and recorded 33 tackles and five sacks. He went undrafted in April 2026, part of the first draft since 1978 with no Wisconsin players selected, before signing with Miami as a free agent on May 8, 2026.
