Zack Baun's career took a dramatic turn when Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio moved him from the edge to off-ball linebacker in 2024, unlocking a breakout that few saw coming for a player once viewed as a fringe roster piece. He backed it up with another Pro Bowl-caliber season in 2025 as one of the most productive linebackers in the league.

Path to the league

Baun starred at Wisconsin as a pass rusher, earning consensus All-American and first-team All-Big Ten honors as a senior in 2019 after piling up 76 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks. The New Orleans Saints drafted him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 74th overall.

Career highlights

After four seasons in New Orleans as primarily an edge rusher, Baun signed with Philadelphia and was repositioned to inside linebacker in 2024. He responded with 151 tackles and five forced fumbles, earning first-team All-Pro honors, a Pro Bowl selection, and a Defensive Player of the Year finalist nod, then helped the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX.

2025 season recap

Baun followed his breakout with another standout year, posting 123 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble across 16 starts for the Eagles. He earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection for his work as the quarterback of Philadelphia's defense.
