Edgerrin Cooper was a first-team All-American at Texas A&M before Green Bay took him in the second round of the 2024 draft. Two seasons in, he has become one of the most productive linebackers on the Packers' roster, anchoring the defense with sideline-to-sideline range.

Path to the league

Cooper earned first-team Associated Press All-America honors at Texas A&M in 2023, leading the Aggies with 84 tackles and eight sacks among 17 tackles for loss. Pro Football Focus graded him as the top linebacker in the FBS that season among players with at least 200 defensive snaps. Green Bay selected him with the 45th overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Cooper was named NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month during his first NFL season and played a critical role in the Packers' 2024 playoff run. His speed and range have made him an asset in coverage against tight ends and running backs, a rare trait among off-ball linebackers his size.

2025 season recap

Cooper finished the 2025 regular season with 118 tackles (63 solo), 0.5 sacks, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery across 16 games, finishing second on the team in tackles. He posted double-digit tackle games five times and played every defensive snap in 10 contests, then added eight stops in Green Bay's wild-card playoff win over Chicago before leaving with an ankle injury.
