Week 4: Colts and Commanders Meet in London With Mariota Coming Off an Upset
The Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders meet at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Sunday, October 4. Indianapolis is 1-2 after beating Houston 19-17 on four Spencer Shrader field goals despite three turnovers; Alec Pierce is out for weeks with a heel injury and Darius Slayton has joined the receiver room. Washington is 1-2 after a 33-31 upset of Seattle in which Marcus Mariota threw three touchdown passes without a turnover and Kain Medrano returned an interception 50 yards for a score; Jayden Daniels remains out with a dislocated left elbow. Thursday update: Daniels chose a brace over surgery and was limited in practice in England; his status is uncertain and the pick assumes Mariota starts.
Mariota without a turnover
Three touchdown passes against the champions, though Washington gained only 258 yards.
Indianapolis' turnovers
Three against Houston and a minus margin on the season; Jonathan Taylor has 66 carries in three games.
A neutral field
Both teams travel, and the kickoff is at 9:30 a.m. Eastern.
AI Prediction
Colts
Commanders Indianapolis has the better run game
Taylor's volume against a Washington defense that has allowed 92 points in three games.
Washington's win was turnover-driven
Seattle outgained the Commanders by 179 yards and gave the ball away three times; that is hard to repeat.
Mariota has been efficient
Four touchdown passes and no interceptions since taking over keeps this a 3-point game.
A Low-confidence lean on a neutral field. The Colts' own turnover problem is the reason it is not higher.
