Two-time MVP and Heisman winner who has nothing left to prove except in January.
Lamar Jackson already owns two MVP trophies, a Heisman, and the highest career rushing-yards total ever by a quarterback. What he doesn't own is a Super Bowl ring. With John Harbaugh out and Jesse Minter in, 2026 is the most consequential season of his career.
Path to the league
Won the Heisman as a Louisville sophomore in 2016 with 3,543 passing yards, 1,571 rushing yards and 51 combined touchdowns. Slid to the 32nd and final pick of the first round in 2018 amid questions about whether he could play quarterback in the NFL. Inherited the Ravens' starting job midseason as a rookie and never gave it back.
Career highlights
22,608 career passing yards and 187 passing touchdowns through 2025. Career-best 4,172 passing yards and 41 touchdowns in 2024. Two MVPs (2019 unanimous, 2023 with 49 of 50 first-place votes). At 27 he became the second-youngest player ever to win multiple MVPs, behind only Jim Brown.
2025 season recap
Baltimore missed the playoffs at 8-9, the first postseason absence of Jackson's career. He played at his usual level (he was in the MVP discussion before a Week 12 quad injury) but the defense collapsed and Derrick Henry hit a wall in November. Harbaugh was fired two days after the season ended.
What to watch in 2026
New head coach Jesse Minter is a defensive specialist, which puts the offensive coordinator hire under a microscope. Baltimore opened at +950 to win Super Bowl LXI, tied for the shortest odds in football. Jackson's $260 million contract runs through 2027, so this is essentially a one-year audition for an extension that could reset the quarterback market.
